Responsibilities
- Maintains boilers, chillers, generators and associated support systems.
- Makes sure equipment is running correctly by monitoring control screens and observing meters and gauges.
- Starts, stops, and switches over boilers as needed.
- Cleans and repairs boilers, blow tubes, discharge sediment, and pumping equipment.
- Controls chillers to keep them at the right temperature and efficient.
- Checks and manages cooling towers and adjusts the water supply.
- Adds chemicals to the water to keep the boiler and cooling system clean and safe.
- Tests generators and keeps records of these tests.
- Controls electrical switches to manage power usage.
- Completes and documents maintenance tasks and makes sure all necessary information is recorded in the system.
- Logs important operating details and keeps records to meet legal and regulatory requirements.
- Ensures that fire and safety measures are checked and tested according to policies.
- Taught other plant engineers about how to operate and maintain the energy plant.
- Attends work regularly and follows Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Five years of experience in building trades or energy plant operations.
- Three years of experience if a trade or vocational school graduate.
