About the role
Covia is seeking a Plant Engineer to support operations at our Troy Grove and Wedron facilities. This role plays a crucial part in fostering a culture of continuous improvement and enhancing operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the Operations Management System with objectives focused on improving work effectiveness and efficiencies.
- Providing tools and approaches necessary for teams to deliver results.
- Assisting in identifying systems to support debottlenecking and loss prevention.
- Leading, coaching, and motivating work teams to achieve operational objectives.
- Facilitating local workshops to engage employees in problem-solving and idea generation.
- Training front-line and supervisory staff on lean manufacturing principles.
- Ensuring all plant personnel receive comprehensive training on existing processes and updates on new systems.
- Fostering a strong culture of personal and process safety across the organization.
- Collaborating with cross-functional departments as needed.
- Occasionally filling in for Production and Maintenance Supervisors during vacations to develop supervisory and leadership skills.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or Science from an accredited college or university.
- Ability to train plant employees in problem-solving techniques.
- Self-motivated to resolve challenges and circumvent obstacles.
- Openly discuss opportunities to improve the performance of the business.
- Strong communication and analytical skills, including the ability to solve complex problems, innovate, and demonstrate a strategic business perspective and financial acumen.
