About the role

The main goal for this role is to partner with operational teams by suggesting opportunities for process improvement as well as refurbishment projects in production plants, while respecting safety, reliability and efficiency of equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Help ensure that projects are properly executed to meet production objectives, while promoting ALC's quality and safety objectives.
  • Provide engineering support ranging including MOC creation, small project management, and action item completion.
  • Support the operations with engineering support ranging including MOC creation, small project management, and action item completion.
  • Guide and maintain Key Operating Documents.
  • Maintain updated red-lines at all times.
  • Display detailed understanding of content and significance of each document.
  • Ensure GT's are understood and followed by the plant staff.
  • Ensure operating procedures are followed and updated as needed.
  • Partner with the Reliability Center to execute predictive and preventive maintenance to safeguard plant continuity and eliminate unplanned maintenance.
  • Partner with the Reliability Team to execute planned maintenance and unexpected events.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and deliver certain maintenance activities for the site.
  • Foster and maintain high housekeeping standards.
  • Develop cost and economic justification for capital projects.
  • Develop and execute capital project scope, cost, and schedule as assigned within time and budget requirements.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to reduce costs within delegated authorization.
  • Utilize national purchasing agreements and frame agreements.
  • Aid in training new technicians.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering required.
  • Must be able to wear personal safety equipment, including hardhat, safety glasses, safety shoes, and flame resistant clothing.
  • 2+ years of experience in an industrial production facility in the role of plant engineer or other similar plant operations role; utilities, air gas, chemical, or refinery production experience preferred.
  • Advanced project management and interpersonal skills to create cross-functional alignment.
  • Exceptional communication skills, specifically in developing action plans to ensure accountability and follow-through.
  • Strong project management abilities and the ability to manage plant personnel.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and troubleshooting engineering issues within a plant operations environment.
  • Trainable on Distributed Process Control (DCS) operation/troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with google Office products, Smartsolve, Maximo®, Oracle Cost Reporting, Oracle Purchasing is a plus.
  • Able to maintain a plant filing system and control of engineering documents.
  • Ability to read/red-line key operating documents.
  • Display mechanical and electrical aptitude for equipment operation/troubleshooting.
  • General understanding of accounting principles; ability to learn plant operating budget.
  • Organized, effective at time management; ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, team leadership skills.
  • Able to interact effectively with all levels in an organization.
  • Able to work extended hours/shift work as business needs dictate.

Qualifications
