About the role

As a PWR-CONNECT Plant Controller, you will report directly to the Finance Director PWR Grid&Connect NAM. This position is dedicated to the Trenton plants, supporting business growth in Canada. The role requires on-site presence in Trenton to provide financial leadership and operational support as needed.

Nexans is escalating its value chain from cable production to providing innovative cable systems, services, and solutions. The Plant Controller will ensure accurate and timely reporting on results and KPIs for the Trenton plants, maintain precise costing and inventory valuation, and serve as the local finance referent.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the preparation of financial statements, monthly reports, and account analyses to ensure accurate month-end close and provide relevant information to plant, business unit, and corporate management.
• Review and reconcile all supporting documentation to ensure the accuracy of financial information, identifying necessary adjustments or unresolved issues.
• Prepare recurring or specific “on-demand” reports to support financial and operational performance analysis.
• Participate in internal and external financial audits to comply with mandatory guidelines and government filing requirements.
• Participate in the preparation of division forecasts and budgets.
• Support FX and non-ferrous risk management, including analysis of the financial impact of hedging (metals and currency).
• Improve financial reporting, month-end reporting, production reporting, standard costing, inventory control, and scrap reporting.
• Enhance the accuracy and timeliness of all reporting processes.
• Promote process changes to improve the efficiency of the Finance team and Business Unit.
• Provide monthly reporting to the Group in accordance with Group and IFRS rules.
• Develop and maintain competence in the controlling department.
• Ensure reliability in data information systems and support other functions to comply with international and local accounting rules.

Requirements

• University degree in business, finance, or accounting.
• At least 5 years of experience as an SAP key user.
• Expertise in Cost and Revenue Element Accounting, Cost Center Accounting, Activity-Based Costing, Internal Orders, Profit Center Accounting, Variance calculation, cost estimation and settlement, COPC, and COPA.
• Strong understanding of controlling or accounting processes.
• Ability to lead process and systems improvements.
• Independent, organized, and problem-solving mindset.
• Proactive, eager to learn, and adaptable to change.
• Good communication and facilitation skills.

Qualifications

• Certification in SAP-FICO (asset).
• Professional designation (CA, CMA, CGA) (asset).
