Plant Controller

About the role

Silgan Containers is seeking a Plant Controller to provide plant-level manufacturing accounting and finance expertise at our Edison, NJ, manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities

• Assist with inventory accuracy, including quarterly physical inventories, audit cadence, and variance resolution
• Manage monthly closing, plant financial statements, and standardized financial reporting in accordance with corporate timelines
• Prepare budgeting, forecasting, and annual operating plan submissions
• Maintain standard costs, cost accounting processes, and bills of materials
• Manage compliance with SOX internal controls and maintain audit readiness
• Participate in production meetings and conduct regular plant walkthroughs
• Partner with plant management on manufacturing finance and cost management
• Provide day-to-day oversight of the plant accounting clerk and plant planner
• Collaborate with corporate finance on reporting accuracy and control compliance
• Support HR functions as needed

Requirements

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 3–5 years of manufacturing accounting or manufacturing finance experience
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory controls, and month-end close
• Working knowledge of GAAP principles
• Experience with SOX-aligned or internal control environments
• Detail-oriented, organized, and process-focused work style
• Comfortable managing plant accounting duties with minimal supervision
• Strong ability to meet deadlines while working collaboratively
• Prior people management experience preferred
• JD Edwards or ERP system experience preferred

• Compensation for this NJ-based position ranges from $85,000 to $110,000 per year and is based on experience, education, and skills

Pay

The compensation for this NJ-based position ranges from $85,000 to $110,000 per year and is based on experience, education, and skills.
