Plant Control Operator In Training (PCOIT) - Reactor Operator

About the role

Talen Energy is seeking candidates for the position of Plant Control Operators in Training at the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station. The position involves receiving nuclear training and gaining experience that leads to obtaining a Reactor Operator License.

Responsibilities

• Participates in lectures, examinations, and other training evolutions during the classroom portion of training.
• Performs control room and in-plant duties, including operating equipment and systems, conducting tests, shutting down the Reactor, manually initiating Engineering Safety Features, and preparing clearances for maintenance/outages.
• Coordinates with the System Operator and performs/directs equipment switching and clearances.
• Starts, regulates, and stops remote-controlled equipment, and synchronizes generators and lines.
• Performs refueling activities, fuel handling activities, and aligns leak rate, hydrostatic, and other test procedures.
• Functions as an evolution coordinator for operations, performs procedure reviews, and maintains knowledge of Plans and Procedures, Radiological Health and Safety Programs, Industrial Safety Programs, Plant Controlled Access Areas, and Security Procedures.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 6 months of experience performing plant operational duties as a qualified non-licensed operator on-site at the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station.
• Valid driver's license.
• Satisfactory physical and mental condition as evidenced by successfully passing company-provided examinations.

Qualifications

• At least 6 months of experience performing plant operational duties as a qualified non-licensed operator on-site at the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station.
• At least 12 months of experience performing plant operational duties as a qualified non-licensed operator at a comparable (BWR/PWR) facility.
• At least 18 months of experience performing plant operational duties as a qualified non-licensed operator at a noncomparable commercial power reactor facility.
• At least 6 months of experience performing plant operational duties as an active-licensed reactor operator at a comparable (BWR/PWR) facility.
• At least 12 months of experience performing plant operational duties as an active licensed reactor operator at a noncomparable commercial power reactor facility.
• At least 18 months of experience at a non-nuclear facility.
• At least 27 months of experience at a non-nuclear facility.
• At least 6 months of experience performing plant operational duties as an active-licensed reactor operator at a comparable (BWR/PWR) facility.
• At least 12 months of experience performing plant operational duties as an active licensed reactor operator at a noncomparable commercial power reactor facility.
• At least 18 months of experience in a position equivalent to the reactor operator position at a military reactor (qualified to manipulate or direct the manipulation of control rods).
• At least 27 months of experience at a non-nuclear facility.

Skills
