Planning Intern (P/T)

About the role

This position offers practical exposure to the field of planning and land use regulations.

Responsibilities

• Supports a team of planners
• Aids in data collection and preparation for various planning projects
• Conducts field work site visits for inspections and analysis
• Captures photographs and prepares maps
• Collects parcel data and searches land records
• Aids planning staff at community meetings
• Presents report findings at community meetings
• Performs basic office functions such as data entry, file management, and customer service

Qualifications

• College courses in relevant specialties such as affordable housing, transportation, land use, architectural design, geography, or other related fields
• Basic understanding of planning principles
• Competency in various computer software programs including Microsoft Office, GIS, and other relevant applications
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Strong research and analytical skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Flexibility and willingness to work on varied planning projects
