Planner, Project Controls
Job Description
This position performs planning/scheduling activities for a Mining & Metal project. Reporting to the Lead Planner, this role serves as planner/Scheduler to manage engineering and construction activities performed.
Responsibilities
- Implement Project Planning & Scheduling strategy, plans and procedures, reflecting both company and contractor roles, responsibilities and expectations
- Cook up the development and implementation of project Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS) in concert with Project controls Lead, Lead Planner and contractor, and in conjunction with Project Execution Plans
- Cook and work with project parties to generate master schedules for projects and programs applying resource loading (information availability dependent)
- Prepare labor and progress histograms (information availability dependent)
- Lead and support the project team in the implementation of an integrated enterprise based, cross functional master schedule programs with various party inputs and which may involve multiple projects
- Work closely with various disciplines in project teams to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the schedules produced without compromising your independence as a planning engineer so you’re in a position to advise project management on issues requiring judgement
- Do the required project schedule analysis (including cost and resource loaded schedules), critical path analysis and schedule risk analysis for the project as a whole and received from contractors and/or third parties
- Analyze deviations from the baseline in the Project Master schedule highlighting bottlenecks / delays and propose corrective actions and report
- Perform what-if schedule scenarios, advanced schedule analysis, and variance analysis reports
- Conduct Critical Path Analysis and report
- Interact and quality assurance regarding tracking and reporting of schedule performance for reporting purposes and provide oversight tracking and monitoring of schedules
- Other duties as assigned
Basic Job Requirements
- Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and eight (8) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to twelve (12) years if non-degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
- Experience with engineering planning/scheduling and progressing for large mining or infrastructure projects
- Advanced knowledge and experience in Primavera Project Planner
Preferred Qualifications
- Possess practical experience in the use of the automated schedule management systems

Market Rate Statement
The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.

Salary Range
$92,000.00 - $171,000.00
