Planner II

Monroe County Government is seeking a creative, educated, and dedicated planner to join the Planning Department in Bloomington, Indiana.

Responsibilities

  • Comprehensive planning projects (long-range planning)
  • Reviewing development proposals (current planning)
  • Leading projects and initiatives, including:
    • Bike and pedestrian planning
    • Historic preservation
    • Environmental conservation

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in planning or a closely related field
  • Demonstrable experience in ESRI-based products, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and other GIS-related applications relating to planning; ability to maintain department GIS data and provide related training
  • Thorough knowledge of fundamental planning issues and concepts, including basic planning theory, urban design, subdivision, environmental issues, growth management, economic development, housing, and transportation

  • Alternative transportation and/or historic preservation training and experience desired

Pay

Starting salary of $60,133 per year (40 hours per week); salary increases to $66,810 after year three.
