Amentum is seeking a Plane Captain to perform aircraft handling, servicing, daily and turnaround inspections, and provide technical assistance and guidance.
Responsibilities
- Perform duties of Aircraft Washer and Plane Captain Helper classifications.
- Conduct daily and turnaround inspections per applicable procedures.
- Initiate and complete applicable maintenance forms.
- Perform aircraft fuel sampling and servicing as required by established procedures.
- Launch and recover aircraft.
- Serve as aircraft taxi director during launch and recovery operations.
- Tow aircraft and act as aircraft brake rider when required.
- Tie down and cover aircraft using established procedures.
- Provide technical assistance, guidance, and instruction as required.
- Utilize two-way communication equipment as required.
- Ensure compliance with Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous Waste, Egress Familiarization, and Tool Control programs.
- Adhere to all established general and industrial safety rules and regulations.
- Ensure safety, security, and preservation of government and company-owned equipment.
- Provide courteous and professional customer service.
- Operate portable firefighting equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness of the work center.
- Perform other qualified duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Two or more years’ experience in aviation maintenance and/or flight line operations.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Must obtain and maintain any government/company license, qualification, certification, and clearance requirements for the position.
- Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate in English, and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Thorough knowledge of applicable safety and maintenance manuals.
- Thorough working knowledge of aircraft flight line operations, handling, servicing, marshaling, common hand tools, and safety requirements.
- Ability to climb, bend, stoop, squat, crawl, crouch, kneel, carry, balance, and reach above shoulder level.
- Ability to push or pull weight up to 70 pounds.
- Close vision including color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Normal hearing range.
- Must complete training program and be certified in writing as a plane captain; re-qualification required semi-annually.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance (US Citizenship required).
- Must be qualified on all assigned T/M/S.
- Must be able to work all assigned shifts and schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in F-18 (A-F), EA-18G, E-2C, F-16, and/or MH60 strongly preferred.
- Hazardous Waste Communications Training.
- FOD and TCP Awareness Training.
- ISO 9001-2000 Program Awareness.
- Operational Risk Management (ORM) Training.
- Licensed on support equipment such as tow tractor, nitrogen servicing cart, engine wash cart, and engine start unit.
- Ability to handle hazardous materials.
- Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
- May require the use of a respirator.
Pay
Hiring hourly rate of pay: $50.66 (set by Collective Bargaining Agreement).
