About the role

This role plays a pivotal role in enhancing student employability and strengthening employer partnerships. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and supportive team, contributing directly to the growth and success of placement and internship provision across the School.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the coordination and development of placement and internship opportunities
  • Manage the full placement lifecycle, from promotion and student preparation through to monitoring progress and ensuring compliance with University requirements
  • Deliver a high-quality, student-facing support service, providing tailored guidance on applications, CV development, and employability skills
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with employers, building a sustainable network that supports placement opportunities and the wider employability agenda
  • Oversee coordination of the placement and internship application processes
  • Maintain accurate management information and CRM systems
  • Promote opportunities through a range of platforms, working collaboratively with academic staff, the University careers team, and external partners

Requirements

  • A graduate (or equivalent) with recent experience in providing placement or internship advice and support, ideally within UK higher education
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, staff, and employers
  • A proactive approach, strong organisational skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Experience of using digital tools and social media to promote opportunities, along with confidence in IT systems

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a relevant degree or equivalent professional qualification, along with recent experience in providing placement or internship advice and support.

Benefits

  • Annual incremental increase up to £37,694, with the opportunity to progress to £41,064 subject to performance and the university reward scheme
  • Up to 36 days of leave per year (inclusive of bank holidays and University closure days), rising to 41 total days after 5 years’ continuous service

Pay

£28,000 - £37,694 per annum, with the opportunity to progress to £41,064 subject to performance and the university reward scheme
