About the role
The PK Lab Technician will work in a dynamic clinical research environment, supporting early-phase clinical trials primarily involving healthy volunteers. The position involves both technical and administrative responsibilities, including specimen collection, processing, and coordination.
Responsibilities
- Maintain specimen collection conditions as assigned.
- Notify staff of abnormal results, adverse events, or unusual incidents during collection.
- Transport collected specimens to the processing laboratory as needed.
- Ensure participant comfort, safety, and well-being throughout assigned shifts.
- Prepare lab requisitions and coordinate sample send-out to external labs.
- Label specimen collection tubes accurately.
- Take on additional duties as needed, based on evolving project or organizational requirements.
Requirements
- Experience in a clinical research lab setting (Phase 1 experience preferred).
- Ability to operate and manage specialized laboratory instrumentation.
- Willingness to be trained on client-provided equipment and follow protocol-specific processing requirements.
- Comfortable with PK sample processing, QC, and lab workflows beyond basic collection/handling.
Skills and Qualifications
- Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician and/or at least six months of phlebotomy experience in a medical setting.
- BLS and/or ACLS certification preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with regulatory and Good Clinical Practice (GCP)/ICH guidelines.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Basic computer proficiency (Word, Excel) and comfort with clinical research software.
