Piping Designer
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Piping Designer to join a collaborative engineering team supporting complex industrial and process facility projects. This role plays a key part in the planning, modeling, and design of piping systems from concept through construction support.
The ideal candidate will have experience working within heavy industrial, specialty chemical, manufacturing, or similar environments and will be comfortable collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, clients, vendors, and contractors. This position offers the opportunity to work on impactful projects while contributing to innovative facility design solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and design piping systems using E3D based on P&IDs, project specifications, and industry standards.
- Create and maintain accurate 3D models and coordinated plant layouts for industrial facilities.
- Utilize model coordination tools such as NavisWorks to support integrated project execution.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, project managers, and drafting teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Cookorate with clients, contractors, and vendors throughout the project lifecycle.
- Assist with project planning, scope management, and identification of design risks and potential solutions.
- Support construction-phase activities, including field verification, site observations, RFI responses, and submittal reviews.
- Participate in site visits and customer meetings as needed.
Requirements
- Associate degree preferred; relevant industry experience will be considered.
- 5-10+ years of piping design experience within the architectural/engineering (A/E) industry.
- Prior experience designing industrial process facility piping systems.
- Advanced proficiency with AVEVA E3D (required).
- Experience with model coordination software such as NavisWorks.
- Experience interpreting and utilizing P&IDs, specifications, and plant design standards.
- Experience supporting projects in specialty chemical, manufacturing, heavy industrial, or related environments.
- Strong communication and technical documentation skills.
- Highly organized with strong project ownership and follow-through.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability and willingness to travel to project and client sites.
- Comfortable working in industrial environments, including accessing elevated platforms, stairs, and ladders when required.
- Strong team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate across multiple project stakeholders.
