Piping Designer

About the role

Join a collaborative engineering team where your designs directly impact real-world industrial projects. As a Piping Designer, you’ll be responsible for developing precise piping layouts and models using AutoCAD and CADWorx, supporting projects from concept through construction.

Responsibilities

• Design and draft 2D and 3D piping systems, including layouts, isometrics, and construction drawings
• Interpret P&IDs to develop accurate, constructible models
• Create and maintain bill of materials (BOMs), line lists, and tie-in lists
• Perform field walk-downs, take measurements, and develop field sketches
• Build equipment and piping models based on vendor drawings and specifications
• Utilize point cloud/laser scan data to generate highly accurate models
• Cookordinate with structural and stress engineers to ensure design integrity and compliance
• Review and incorporate piping stress analysis results into designs
• Participate in design reviews, P&ID reviews, and project meetings
• Mentor junior designers and review work for accuracy and quality
• Track progress against project schedules and man-hour estimates
• Ensure designs meet safety, constructability, operability, and maintainability standards

Qualifications

• Required: Associate or Technical degree (Bachelor’s preferred)
• Proven experience in piping design within an industrial environment
• Strong 3D modeling experience
• Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D and 3D)
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Preferred Experience

• With CADWorx Plant Professional
• Familiarity with ReCap and point cloud modeling
• Knowledge of AISC and ASTM standards
• Understanding of construction, fabrication, and installation practices
• Experience working in both field and office settings
