About the role
The role involves performing pipe welding procedures on Stainless Steel and Copper-Nickel pipe using Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), also known as tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding. The shipyard environment is an around the clock manufacturing setting. Ingalls shipyard production areas at times involve working at different heights, confined spaces, different weather conditions as well as multiple shifts 24 hours a day.
Responsibilities
- Perform pipe welding procedures on Stainless Steel and Copper-Nickel pipe using Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), also known as tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding.
- Must have experience in Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), also known as Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding.
- Must have experience in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) also known as "stick welding".
- Ability to pass military standard X-Ray welding test on stainless steel and copper nickel in the 6G position (restricted).
- Ability to pass a military specification welding assessment in the vertical (3G), horizontal (2G) and overhead (4G) positions.
- Pipe welding test is given in a restricted position (6 G) on a 5'' schedule 80 carbon steel pipe.
- Must be able to perform GTAW (TIG) process for root pass, 11018 electrode for weld fill portion and cap.
