About the role
You will serve as a PIPEFITTER WORKER in the PUBLIC WORKS DIR of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.
Responsibilities
- Connect fresh-water hoses from pier to demineralizing and pure water making equipment.
- Open and close valves on the pier, ensuring hose connection from equipment to pier side ship/submarine.
- Conduct pressurized tests on steam hoses on test rack at W-6 for leaks.
- Prepare bad hoses for salvage and good hoses for future use.
Qualifications
- Knowledge and skill necessary to perform duties of the position.
- Experience in installing, modifying, and repairing high-pressure piping systems and equipment.
- Ability to plan and lay out complex piping installations.
- Skills in setting up system routes, cutting and placing openings, installing hangers, and determining system components.
- Understanding of how relief valves, check valves, pressure regulators, and expansion joints operate.
- Shop mathematics skills to lay out angles, arcs, and circles.
Screen-out Element
- Installing, modifying, and repairing high-pressure piping systems and equipment.
- Planning and laying out complex piping installations.
- Setting up system routes and determining system components.
- Joining, sealing, and testing systems for proper pressure, flow, circulation, and leak-free performance.
- Understanding of how relief valves, check valves, pressure regulators, and expansion joints operate.
- Understanding of shop mathematics.
