Pipefitter/Welder (Marietta, SC) - Austin Industrial

Responsibilities

• Weld, lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial production and processing systems.
• Perform field measurements, sketch isometric drawings, compile material tables, fabricate pipe or steel, and weld pipe or structural components.
• Replace valves/gaskets, perform bolt-up, rigging, and other related tasks.
• Cut, thread, and hammer pipe to specifications using tools such as saws, cutting torches, pipe threaders, and benders.
• Attach pipes to walls, structures, and fixtures (e.g., radiators or tanks) using brackets, clamps, tools, or welding equipment.
• Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading.
• Plan pipe system layout, installation, or repair according to specifications.
• Select pipe sizes, types, and related materials (e.g., supports, hangers, hydraulic cylinders) based on specifications.
• Modify, clean, and maintain pipe systems, units, fittings, and related equipment following specifications and using hand/power tools.
• Install automatic controls used to regulate pipe systems.
• Operate valves to shut off steam, water, or other gases/liquids from pipe sections using valve keys or wrenches.
• Remove and replace worn components.
• Inspect work sites for obstructions and ensure holes will not cause structural weakness.
• Operate motorized pumps to remove water from flooded manholes, basements, or facility floors.
• Dip nonferrous piping materials in molten tin and lead to obtain a coating that prevents erosion or galvanic/electrolytic action.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Journeyman Industrial Combo-Welder with 3-5 years of experience.
• Ability to weld stainless and carbon pipe using stick and TIG methods.
• Weld test required.
• Legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States (Austin Industrial cannot sponsor employment visas for this position).

Qualifications

• Education: No minimum education requirements.
• Certifications/Licenses: Valid Driver’s License.
• Experience: 3-5 years of Journeyman-level experience.
