Pipefitter Welder - Colorado Refinery

About the role

We are seeking an experienced pipe fitter/welder with hands-on experience in piping, tubing, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and boilers. You should be able to read drawings and ISOs, complete high-quality fabrication and installation work, maintain welding certifications, and safely operate a wide range of tools and equipment. This position is based at Suncor’s Commerce City refinery and requires strong communication, teamwork, and readiness to work.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of related fitting and welding experience with piping, tubing, shell and tube heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and boilers
• High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
• Valid driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to Suncor
• Ability to pass a 6G SMAW Uphill (2” super coupon) test proctored by Suncor inspection and maintain active status
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills to build strong, positive relationships with diverse groups

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret drawings and ISOs to perform fabrication and field installations
• Fabricate and install threaded pipe, socket welded pipe, and butt weld piping configurations
• Install valves, steam tracing (tubing), test piping systems, hangers, supports, and perform maintenance repairs
• Operate tools and equipment associated with this job, including carry decks, fork lifts, man lifts (articulating and scissor), basic rigging, pneumatic tools, electric tools, oxy-acetylene cutting, and plasma cutting
• Maintain welding certification with x-ray quality

Location and Work Conditions

• Work out of our Commerce City refinery, located at 5801 Brighton Blvd.
• Regular 40-hour work week: 5x8 hour shifts Monday through Friday or 4x10 hour shifts Monday through Thursday, depending on business needs
• Paid overtime, often 100-600+ hours per year based on plant needs
• Perform heavy lifting, use ladders, and work on elevated sites such as scaffolds and towers
• Work in a variety of environments, both indoor and outdoor, including confined spaces
• Safety-sensitive position requiring pre-employment drug testing, employment verification, education verification, background checks, and other assessments

Pay

This is a union-represented position under USW 12-477 with an hourly rate of $55.16 and annual increases.
