Pipefitter – Shop Fabrication
Job Duties
- Configure pipe systems blueprint and plan piping systems layouts.
- Ensure all steam, water, chemicals, or other liquids are turned off before working on the piping system.
- Precisely cut, bend, and weld metals such as carbon and stainless steel.
- Clean and clear debris and hazardous materials from pipes as needed.
- Install piping or tubing segments securely with welding or other equipment.
- Thread, weld, solder piping together.
- Consult with job site management for hole placements in walls and bulkheads.
- Ensure pipe sizes, hangers, supports, and joint needs for accurate flow.
- Cut and alter the piping to ensure the correct sizes.
- Perform trial runs and tests on pipe systems.
- Repair and reinforce broken, cracked, or inadequate systems or pipes.
Skills/Qualifications
- Three years’ experience as a pipefitter or pipefitter apprenticeship preferred.
- A high school degree or equivalent educational experience; vocational school or trade apprenticeship required.
- Must meet all state license requirements.
- Accurate and precise attention to detail.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal building code regulations regarding piping systems.
- OSHA 10 preferred.
Essential Requirements
- Manufacturing, pipeline, and refining environment.
- Fit and move in confined spaces including tanks and vessels.
- Exposure to noise above 85 decibels and intense odors.
- You must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Working outside most of the time with potential exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures.
- Climbing up and down stairs and ladders to both get in and out of trenches and up to elevated platforms (scaffolding at significant heights).
- Lifting necessary equipment and materials 1-50 pounds, 50% of the time monthly for required tasks.
- Walking on uneven terrain, with an average of two miles per day.
- Use of respirator if position requires.
- Potential or periodic amounts of time for the following: Sit, stoop, crawl, stand, and kneel.
- If driving is required, a valid driver’s license and proof of insurability will be required. All drivers are subject to a DMV background records search.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $50,000 - $70,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Salary is commensurate with experience and performance.
Schedule
The schedule for this position is typically full-time, with some flexibility based on project needs. Employees may work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
