Pipefitter- Shop

Position Summary

Perform trade specific work consistent with production procedures in a shop environment. Work shall meet all efficiency, safety, and quality requirements to ensure finished product meets or exceeds customer expectations.

Role Responsibilities

• Comply with all safety processes and procedures.
• Operate trade specific shop tools and machinery.
• Read and understand production drawings, labels, and measurements.
• Layout and fabricate piping spools from production drawings.
• Inspect and document product compliance.
• Perform quality control inspections.
• Maintain clean and orderly tools/work area.
• Handle materials.
• Accurately maintain time records.
• Work closely with fabrication team members in a collaborative team environment.
• Aid in the training of new employees.
• Provide information on daily production to assist with production tracking.
• Communicate status of orders to the shop leadership.
• Read, interpret, and follow blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately create equipment and products.
• Identify product defects and effectively communicate defects to project foreman.
• Work with overhead cranes, jib cranes, and forklifts.
• Perform prioritized work flow assignments as directed by foreman or shop superintendent.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.

Qualifications

• Shop Fitter-1: High school degree or GED preferred or equivalent combination of skills and experience. Trade specific training, experience, and knowledge. Receives direct supervision. Performs fabrication/production responsibilities with supervision. Contributes to a team under general supervision of an experienced professional or manager.
• Shop Fitter-2: Good communication skills both verbal and written. Good trade specific training, experience, and knowledge. Good knowledge of trade tools, equipment, and materials. Performs fabrication/production responsibilities with moderate supervision.
• Shop Fitter-3: Strong communication skills both verbal and written. Strong trade specific training, experience, and knowledge. Strong knowledge of trade tools, equipment, and materials. Performs fabrication/production responsibilities with minimal supervision.

Minimum Physical Requirements

• Work outside, inside, and in dusty, noisy, and hazardous areas.
• Work in high places, tight places, confined spaces, and/or other adverse locations.
• Climb, balance, squat, kneel, and crouch.
• Work in all types of weather.
• Must have working knowledge of all trade materials and tools.
• Ability to lift and carry 51 to 75 lbs. occasionally, and/or 31 to 45 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 16 to 22 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
