About the role

This is a long-term, full-time maintenance position working 40 hours per week on a 5/8s schedule (five 8-hour days). The role does not offer per diem, 4/10s, or relocation funding.

Responsibilities

  • Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial production and processing systems.
  • Cut, thread, and hammer pipe to specifications using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threaders and benders.
  • Attach pipes to walls, structures, and fixtures (e.g., radiators or tanks) using brackets, clamps, tools, or welding equipment.
  • Plan pipe system layout, installation, or repair according to specifications.
  • Select pipe sizes and types, as well as related materials such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, according to specifications.
  • Modify, clean, and maintain pipe systems, units, fittings, and related machines and equipment following specifications and using hand and power tools.
  • Turn valves to shut off steam, water, or other gases or liquids from pipe sections using valve keys or wrenches.
  • Remove and replace worn components.
  • Inspect work sites for obstructions and ensure holes will not cause structural weakness.
  • Operate motorized pumps to remove water from flooded manholes, basements, or facility floors.
  • Work at heights, lift a minimum of 50 pounds, climb ladders and stairs, and stand for long periods.
  • Work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
  • Perform work while wearing personal protective equipment, including but not limited to: rain gear, chemical protective clothing, supplied air and air-purifying respirators, safety harness, sandblast hoods, fire-resistant coveralls, hard hat, ear plugs, and safety glasses.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Journeyman Industrial Pipefitter with a minimum of 3 years of pipefitting experience.
  • Full range of mobility in upper and lower body, including the ability to reach overhead, stoop, stand, bend, sit, kneel, squat, and balance for extended periods.
  • Ability to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and climb stairs.
  • No fear of heights and capable of working in various positions.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screening, and background check as conditions of employment.
  • Legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States; Austin Industrial is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position.

Qualifications

  • Education: No minimum education requirements.
  • Experience: 3–5 years of Journeyman-level experience required.
