PIPE/MECHANICAL TRADES II - Plumbing

About the role

The Pipe/Mechanical Trades II - HVAC position is a part of the Pipe/Mechanical Trades series at Colorado State University Pueblo. This position maintains all campus facilities and supports systems, ensuring they meet regulatory standards and provide a safe, sanitary environment.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and perform emergency repairs on plumbing fixtures, water supply valves, hot and cold water piping, sewer drainage piping, traps, water heaters, and hydronic pumps.
• Maintain and repair control valves to systems and equipment, and monitor water temperature mixing valves and high and low pressure gauges.
• Perform preventative maintenance on plumbing fixtures, including faucets, toilets, traps, drains, and water fountains.
• Clean and unclog drains using mechanical snakes and jetters.
• Repair chilled water pumps, condenser water pumps, heating and circulation pumps, cooling towers, domestic water heaters, and domestic water boilers.
• Install, maintain, repair, and test water flow devices, controls, and fire hydrants.
• Answer after-hours calls for campus emergencies.
• Monitor and troubleshoot building automation controls and systems to ensure proper operation of boilers, pumps, and other systems.
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and operating manuals.
• Install, repair, and test backflow devices.
• Install and repair backflow prevention devices.
• Perform snow removal functions using vehicle equipment such as snow plows, snow blowers, snow shovels, and UTVs with plows.
• Assist other facilities staff and departments, and perform tasks at different sites requiring driving of State vehicles.

Requirements

Three (3) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position OR a combination of related education, formalized apprenticeship program, and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to three (3) years.

Preferred qualifications include being licensed as a Journeyman Plumber in the state of Colorado and having four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in the maintenance, repair, and installation of commercial and residential plumbing and mechanical systems.

• Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in the maintenance, repair, and installation of commercial and residential plumbing and mechanical systems (preferred).

Skills

Knowledge of plumbing and mechanical systems, ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and operating manuals, proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing building automation controls and systems, and strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential.

Pay

$58,872 to $68,148 annually, with a constrained wage range due to budget constraints.

Schedule

Shift work, with some in-person and driving requirements.
