Pipe Layer
About the role
This project is located in Tulsa, OK and requires travel. Pay will be provided in the form of daily per diem and/or housing.
Responsibilities
- Cut pipes to required lengths using a demo saw and other power tools.
- Install and repair wet and dry utility pipe, including sanitary and storm water sewer structures and pipe systems.
- Move pipe into trenches, lay pipe in trench, and help with initial backfill.
- Connect pipe pieces and seal joints using appropriate tools and materials to secure pipe.
- Assemble pipe to pass all required pressure tests.
- Work with and monitor fellow workers to ensure safety and productivity.
- Perform pre-task planning tasks.
- Operate equipment within a Pipe Crew environment, such as an excavator or loader, if possible.
- Operate equipment safely and productively in and around active highway traffic under Maintenance of Traffic conditions and live traffic on a highway construction project.
- Coordinate machine actions with other activities, positioning loads in response to hand or audio signals from other crew members.
- Participate in general housekeeping, light maintenance of equipment, proper care of equipment, operating the equipment without damaging it, and conducting daily maintenance checks on equipment.
Requirements
- At least 2 years' experience laying pipe in Highway Construction is required.
Qualifications
Physical Fitness: High level of physical fitness is required due to the physically demanding nature of the position.
Communication: Excellent interpersonal communication and teamwork skills are necessary.
Flexibility: Ability to work in a variety of diverse locations is pertinent.
Coordination: Balance, depth perception, and eye-hand coordination are critical.
Skills
Experience operating equipment within a Pipe Crew environment such as an excavator or loader is preferred but not necessary.
Experience operating equipment safely and productively in and around active highway traffic under Maintenance of Traffic conditions and live traffic on a highway construction project is preferred.
