Pipe Layer

Purpose Job Description The Pipe Layer is responsible for the installation of underground utilities including water, sewer, and telecom piping systems. This role ensures proper pipe grade, alignment, and sealing as part of horizontal directional drilling (HDD) and utility infrastructure projects. The position requires physical labor, coordination with the crew, and adherence to safety and quality standards. Responsibilities Lay and install various pipe types (PVC, HDPE, C900, etc.) ranging from 2” to 36” in diameter. Set proper pipe grade and elevation using lasers and levels. Prepare trench bedding and install restraints, fittings, valves, and cleanouts as specified. Assist with fusion welding, hot tapping, and manhole tie-ins as needed. Maintain pipe alignment and joint integrity throughout installation. Work closely with the foreman and project team to ensure timely completion of tasks. Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures on-site. Key Measures / Key Performance Indicators Accuracy of pipe grade and slope (% compliance with plans/specs). Pipe joint integrity and leak test pass rate. Daily production/output (feet of pipe laid). On-time task completion per project schedule. Compliance with safety protocols (zero preventable incidents). Requirements Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Postsecondary training or certifications related to construction or utility installation. Experience 5+ years of experience in billing operations 2+ years of supervisory experience Strong background in customer-specific billing processes Exposure Work Environment: Outdoor construction sites, often in trenches or confined spaces. Conditions: Exposure to various weather conditions, including heat, rain, and cold. Equipment: Interaction with heavy machinery and hand tools. Safety: Adherence to safety protocols to mitigate risks associated with construction activities. Blueprint Interpretation: Skill in reading and understanding construction plans to ensure proper installation.
