As a Pipe Foreperson, you will supervise and coordinate crews in the installation, repair, and replacement of gravity sewer, force main, water main, storm drain, and associated utility systems. You will ensure quality workmanship, strict safety compliance, and efficient production. This is a hands-on leadership role where your technical expertise in underground utilities and your ability to lead crews in complex trenching and pipe installation environments directly contribute to project success. Competitive pay: $26–28 per hour, depending on experienceLead critical sewer, water, storm, and utility infrastructure projectsCareer growth working alongside experienced utility professionalsChampion safety, accountability, and teamworkCompetitive pay and benefits — we value and reward excellence Key Responsibilities Supervise, mentor, and lead crews performing sewer, water, storm drain, and underground utility installationsPlan, coordinate, and assign daily work activities to meet schedule and production goalsOversee excavation, trenching, shoring, dewatering, and backfill operations in compliance with OSHA and project specificationsInstall and inspect PVC, ductile iron, HDPE, concrete, and steel pipe systems, including manholes, inlets, hydrants, valves, and servicesSet and verify pipe line, grade, and alignment using lasers, levels, and grade rodsRead and interpret blueprints, utility plans, profiles, specifications, and cut sheetsCoordinate with inspectors, engineers, subcontractors, and utility locatorsConduct daily job hazard analyses (JHAs), toolbox talks, and safety meetingsIdentify and troubleshoot installation issues such as grade conflicts, utility crossings, and weather or soil challengesSafely operate and oversee the operation of heavy equipment (excavators, loaders, trench boxes, compactors)Perform and document equipment inspections and ensure proper maintenanceLocate, expose, and protect existing underground utilities prior to and during excavationMaintain accurate daily reports, time tracking, safety documentation, and installation recordsAssist with labor tasks including pipe handling, connections, testing, clean-up, and restorationEnsure proper traffic control, barricades, fencing, and public safety measuresTravel between project sites as required Qualifications Strong background in sewer, water, storm drain, and underground utility constructionWorking knowledge of trench safety, shoring systems, and OSHA excavation standardsHigh school diploma or GED preferredOne to two years of foreperson or lead experience in utility construction (or equivalent combination of education and experience)Ability to read and interpret utility plans, profiles, and specificationsStrong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skillsBasic math skills (grades, elevations, measurements, calculations)Valid driver’s license required; CDL is a plusMust pass pre-employment background check, drug screening, and physical agility test Physical & Work Environment Requirements Frequently required to climb, balance, and perform physically demanding tasksRegularly sit, climb, signal, and operate equipment; occasionally walk, crawl, kneel, bend, stoop, crouch, or reach overheadLift and move materials weighing 25–50 lbs.Work primarily outdoors in varying and extreme weather conditionsExposure to job site hazards including moving equipment, trenches, confined spaces, noise, and airborne particlesVision requirements include close, distance, depth perception, color, and peripheral visionReasonable accommodations provided as required Core Competencies Quality: Ensures installation meets utility standards, specs, and inspectionsProductivity: Drives efficient production without sacrificing safety or qualitySafety: Enforces trench safety, utility protection, and OSHA complianceAttendance: Reliable, punctual, and dependable on all job sitesDependability: Follows plans, adapts to field conditions, and meets deadlinesCommunication: Effectively communicates with crews, inspectors, and managementTeamwork: Builds strong crews through leadership, respect, and accountability Ready to Lead?
