About the role
The Foreman oversees and coordinates the work of labor crews on construction projects, ensuring tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications. This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage resources and schedules while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
Responsibilities
- Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the activities of labor crews.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and project requirements.
- Assign tasks and provide clear instructions to crew members.
- Inspect work progress, equipment, and construction sites to verify safety and ensure quality standards are met.
- Maintain time, production, and other records as required.
- Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and other foremen to ensure project milestones are met.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate laborers to build a strong, productive team.
- Monitor use of materials and equipment to prevent waste and ensure proper maintenance.
- Identify and resolve issues that could cause delays or safety hazards.
Requirements
- 3+ years of construction labor experience, with at least 1–2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, tools, and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

- Able to work in various weather conditions and perform physical tasks as needed.

Physical Demands
- Lift 50lbs from the ground and pull 50lbs of force.
- Full squat, stoop, or kneel while wearing a 25lb tool belt.
- Stand for long periods of time while performing repetitive actions.
- Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Occasionally lifting and/or moving objects weighing over 50 pounds with assistance or team lifting techniques.
- Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and reaching (above and below shoulder level).
- Sufficient physical dexterity and balance to work safely at various heights and in confined spaces.
- Adequate visual acuity (including close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus) for tasks such as reading instructions, operating equipment, and ensuring safety.
- Adequate hearing (with or without assistive devices) to understand instructions and warnings in a noisy environment.
Work Environment
- Regularly works outdoors and may be exposed to varying and potentially extreme weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, and snow.
- Frequently exposed to moving mechanical equipment, high noise levels, dust, fumes, airborne particles, vibrations, and potential electrical hazards.
- Works at heights and in confined spaces.
- Must be able to work safely around heavy equipment and construction traffic.
- The noise level in the work environment is typically loud, requiring the consistent use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including hearing protection, and adherence to all Clark Construction’s comprehensive safety policies, procedures, and all applicable federal, state, and local laws.
- The role frequently requires working more than 40 hours per week due to the nature of the projects, deadlines, and client's requirements.
