About the Role
Foreman directs and manages all on-site construction workers, subcontractors, and equipment, enforcing the company’s direction, policies, procedures, and safety standards while meeting construction deadlines. Cash Construction, a division of MasTec, specializes in water and wastewater utilities, drainage improvements, lift stations, pump stations, dry utilities, and roadwork for municipalities, counties, the Texas Department of Transportation, private developers, and other entities.
Responsibilities
- Lead and direct people, equipment, and resources for the installation of water, sewer, and storm drainage systems.
- Ensure sufficient deployment and productivity of work crews; report issues affecting the project plan to the Superintendent and Project Managers.
- Organize and coordinate daily activities of crew members, subcontractors, and equipment; use corrective action to keep projects on time and on budget.
- Ensure materials are laid to contract specifications and execute best practices for efficient use of construction materials.
- Plan work in an efficient and effective order, maximizing progress safely and timely; review and adhere to construction schedules.
- Ensure company equipment is lawfully operated, cared for, maintained, and used effectively.
- Read and interpret project plans and specifications; operate heavy equipment and perform other construction duties as necessary.
- Comply with the company’s Code of Ethics and ensure all decisions align with its principles.
- Ensure new hires receive required orientation and attend company-designated training.
- Monitor and manage employee attendance, including notifying crews of rainy days prior to the start of the workday.
- Delegate tasks, supervise, and direct crew members; liaise between the company and employees on related matters.
- Comply with relevant legislation regarding employee management, terminations, and resignations; handle and investigate employee concerns.
- Liaise with the Human Resources department on employee development, recruitment, benefits, training, terminations, and investigations.
- Apply the progressive disciplinary policy consistently and fairly as necessary.
- Promote, execute, and adhere to the company’s safety program; encourage a safety culture among employees, subcontractors, and consultants.
- Conduct daily and weekly safety meetings and inspections; review safe work plans/hazard assessments with crew prior to job commencement.
- Investigate damage, incidents, or near misses with the Safety Department and ensure proper procedures are followed.
- Work safely to avoid injury to self or others; participate as a team member and contribute to organizational success.
- Collaborate with project teams on special initiatives as required.
Qualifications
- Knowledgeable about and compliant with the company’s safety policies and procedures as described in the safety manual.
- Able to meet physical requirements: sitting, standing, bending, climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, working at heights, in confined spaces, and in all weather conditions (rain, snow, heat).
- Familiarity with specifications, regulations, and the ability to read plans to execute construction projects.
- Experience in supervising employees and managing subcontractors.
