Pipe Fitter
About the role
The Pipe Fitter will fabricate, assemble, install, and maintain piping systems at CMI’s customer site in Beltsville, MD.
Responsibilities
- Review design specifications and blueprints to determine the layout of piping systems.
- Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes (using saws, torches, and threaders) to fit precise dimensions.
- Assemble and secure pipe systems to walls and structural steel using brackets, clamps, hangers, and welding equipment.
- Connect pipes using various methods, including welding, soldering, brazing, fusing, or cementing joints.
- Run pressure tests and inspections on installed systems to check for leaks and ensure compliance with safety codes.
- Troubleshoot malfunctions and repair or replace broken pipes, valves, and supports in existing systems.
- Perform other pipe fitter related duties as required.
Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in the pipe fitting field.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Experience performing related services within a government facility.
- A thorough understanding of workplace safety guidelines and building codes, especially when handling volatile or hazardous materials.
- The ability to lift heavy materials, climb scaffolding, bend, and work in cramped or high environments.
- Fluency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the English language.
- Pass a government background check.
