Pilot Driver
About the role
The Pilot Driver supports the safe and efficient transport of wide-load fiberglass swimming pools from production to final delivery sites. This role involves assisting with loading and unloading activities, escorting oversized loads, and ensuring compliance with state and local escort regulations.
Responsibilities
- Assist in loading and unloading fiberglass pools and related materials in accordance with safety procedures.
- Escort CDL Driver and wide-load cargo following all state and local escort regulations.
- Read, understand, and follow state permits for safe escort operations.
- Communicate effectively with the CDL Driver regarding traffic flow, hazards, obstacles, and route conditions.
- Maintain a clean, presentable pilot vehicle (interior and exterior).
- Properly secure and tie down pool loads as required.
- Maintain current certifications for all states requiring pilot/escort driver credentials.
- Successfully complete annual defensive driving training.
- Adhere to all company, DOT, and state safety standards.
Requirements
- Valid Class D driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to operate a standard transmission vehicle.
- Ability to travel overnight, including multiple consecutive nights as required.
- Ability to read and interpret escort regulations and state permits.
- Ability to sit for extended periods, drive long distances, and lift up to 40 pounds.

Pay
The salary range for this role is $18.50 to $23.00 per hour, reflecting the cost of labor across US geographic markets. Starting pay will vary based on multiple factors, including location, knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
Schedule
This position is full-time and requires on-site and off-site work.
