Pig Production Technician

The Pig Production Technician is responsible for overseeing daily pork production activities within the farrowing and/or gestation departments. This role involves continuous hands-on interaction with livestock and adherence to structured routines.

• Ensure the humane treatment of animals.
• Follow bio-security protocols.
• Maintain and monitor feeding systems and animal health.
• Perform vaccinations and injections.
• Participate in general facility cleaning and maintenance.
• Assist with recording and maintaining accurate production records.
• Adhere to safety policies and report hazards.
• Perform heat checking and breeding/insemination processes.
• Manage pregnant sows and piglet weaning.
• Assist with piglet fostering and castration.
• Adjust and hang heat lamps.
• Monitor and care for pregnant sows.
• Assist with moving animals between barns and departments.
• Prepare farrow rooms and assist in pig care.
• Handle piglet processing and castration.
• Adjust and hang heat lamps.
• Travel to additional barn locations as needed.

Physical Demands:

• Constant exposure to dust, animal dander, and odor.
• Loud noise levels in the work environment.
• Standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, balancing, climbing, and manipulating objects up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent extended periods of standing, walking, stooping, reaching, kneeling, bending, climbing, performing repetitive motions, and communicating.
