Pig Production Technician
The Pig Production Technician is responsible for overseeing daily pork production activities within the farrowing and/or gestation departments. This role involves continuous hands-on interaction with livestock and adherence to structured routines.
- Ensure the humane treatment of animals.
- Follow bio-security protocols.
- Maintain and monitor feeding systems and animal health.
- Perform vaccinations and injections.
- Participate in general facility cleaning and maintenance.
- Assist with recording and maintaining accurate production records.
- Adhere to safety policies and report hazards.
- Perform heat checking and breeding/insemination processes.
- Manage pregnant sows and piglet weaning.
- Assist with piglet fostering and castration.
- Adjust and hang heat lamps.
- Monitor and care for pregnant sows.
- Assist with moving animals between barns and departments.
- Prepare farrow rooms and assist in pig care.
- Handle piglet processing and castration.
- Adjust and hang heat lamps.
- Travel to additional barn locations as needed.

Physical Demands:
- Constant exposure to dust, animal dander, and odor.
- Loud noise levels in the work environment.
- Standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, balancing, climbing, and manipulating objects up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent extended periods of standing, walking, stooping, reaching, kneeling, bending, climbing, performing repetitive motions, and communicating.
