About the role
The Framer's Workshop is a family owned custom frame shop near the University of California at Berkeley. We have been in business at the same location since 1977. We are open seven days a week. Work schedules are different for each framer so that we can accommodate all our open hours.
Responsibilities
- Perform meticulous preservation framing
- Experience in all aspects of custom framing and machine maintenance
- Basic math skills essential
- Good sales and design skills important
- Design framing with customers
- Work 1-2 days of weekend work per week
- Flexible schedule depending on skills
Requirements
- Experience in a custom framing business
- Use of a computerized mat cutter
- Cutting moulding (wood or metal)
- Mounting, glass, acrylic cutting, shadow box specialties, stretching and stitching of textiles or canvas paintings, fabric wrapping, mirror framing, and all preservation techniques
- Use of tools including a Valiani CMC, a CTD double miter saw, an underpinner, a Frame Square saw, a Morso chopper, Epson scanners and large format printers
Qualifications
Basic math skills are essential. Good sales and design skills are important as the job will also involve designing framing with customers.
