Physician Urgent Care

About the Role

We are seeking experienced Physicians with urgent care or emergency room experience, treating both adult and pediatric patients, to join our welcoming and diverse community of providers in the surrounding region. Physicians independently perform a wide variety of clinical services including treatment of acute episodic conditions such as sore throats, colds, flu-like symptoms, cuts, sprains, and minor infections. They are also responsible for selecting and utilizing appropriate diagnostics and/or therapeutic procedures for patients.

Responsibilities

• Examining and treating patients
• Taking patients’ medical histories
• Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and X-rays
• Making diagnoses and prescribing medications
• Treating minor injuries that may require sutures, splints, or casting
• Recording progress notes for follow-up patients
• Educating and counseling patients
• Ordering and/or carrying out therapy with patients
• Giving vaccinations and referring patients to additional care
• Supervising GoHealth PA/NPs remotely when cases are presented for supervision
• Acting as a Collaborating Physician for up to four PA/NPs in the credentialing process, including signoff of the PA/NPs delineation of privileges (DOP)

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited medical school
• 2-5 years of post-residency clinical experience
• Minimum 18 months experience in an applicable practice setting
• Adult and pediatric practice experience
• Board Certified or Board Eligible by an ABMS member board or AOA specialty board in Family Medicine or Emergency Medicine
• Active state medical licensure

Skills

• Experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Medicine setting
• Applicable office procedures including but not limited to suturing, splinting, etc.
• Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records (preferred)
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to be attentive with strong listening skills

Physical Requirements

Physical demands are categorized as follows during a shift:

• Occasionally – Activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time.
• Frequently – Activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time.
• Constantly – Activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time.

Employees must be able to perform the entire range for each physical demand task marked Occasionally, Frequently, and Constantly.

Schedule

20 hours required monthly for per diem roles.
