Job Description

To serve as the primary point of contact for referrals coming into Physicians Services.
To provide concierge service to the ambassador program users.
To serve as one point of contact for referring providers complaint escalation and conflict resolution.
To monitor physician services email and phone lines.
To assist with institutional navigation, administering the ambassador program and coordinating patient care.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Captures and schedules patient appointments for referring providers.
  • Facilitates communication between the referring providers and UAB Medicine.
  • Maintains knowledge of all UAB providers and how to access the system and or a particular provider, based on diagnosis.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with referring providers and their staff.
  • Acts as a point of contact when needed.
  • Aids in the resolution of all referring provider issues in a timely and efficient manner, utilizing excellent customer service techniques.
  • Communicates issues to the Liaisons and the Director for appropriate dissemination internally.
  • Documents all activity into the departmental Salesforce system to interface and communicate with other staff.
  • Provides detailed reports of activity.
  • Communicates with physician services staff to improve communication and patient access into UAB Medicine.
  • Participates in all departmental activities.
  • Contributes to the overall departmental goal of being an initial point of contact for the referring provider community.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible secretarial and customer service experience required.
  • A degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field may be considered in lieu of experience.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to learn medical terminology.
