About the role
Raleigh General Hospital is seeking a Director of Physician Services to lead the Physician Services department. This role is part of Lifepoint Health, a diversified healthcare network.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for physician services across the hospital system.
- Ensure alignment of provider practices with organizational goals, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Drive performance improvement, financial stewardship, and physician engagement to support high-quality, patient-centered care.
- Lead the Physician Services department by aligning people, processes, and resources with organizational goals and strategic priorities.
- Develop and execute departmental plans, policies, and performance standards that support clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, and operational effectiveness.
- Oversee physician practice operations, ensuring high-quality patient care, exceptional service delivery, efficient workflows, and effective resolution of patient and provider concerns.
- Manage and develop a high-performing team by planning, assigning, scheduling, and reviewing work; establishing quality standards; and overseeing hiring, onboarding, performance management, corrective action, and employee development.
- Drive workforce excellence through coaching, mentoring, succession planning, and continuing education initiatives that promote professional growth and engagement.
- Manage departmental financial performance by developing budgets, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring responsible stewardship of resources.
- Direct and support internal and external audit activities, maintaining compliance with regulatory, legal, accreditation, and organizational requirements.
- Collaborate with physicians, executive leadership, and cross-functional teams to drive operational excellence, provider engagement, regulatory compliance, and strategic growth initiatives across physician practices.
- Leverage data and performance metrics to identify improvement opportunities, optimize practice operations, enhance patient and provider experience, and achieve organizational goals.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement while ensuring the department remains focused on its critical role in delivering coordinated, patient-centered care across the continuum.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Nursing, or related field preferred; applicable work experience may be considered in lieu of education.
- Progressive leadership experience in physician services, medical group administration, or hospital-based physician operations within a complex healthcare system.
- Proven ability to lead and develop multidisciplinary teams and manage physician practices or integrated clinical operations in a hospital environment.
- Strong understanding of hospital and ambulatory operations, continuum of care, and physician alignment strategies within an integrated delivery system.
- Demonstrated financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and managing operational resources in a healthcare system setting.
- Experience with regulatory compliance, accreditation standards (including Joint Commission), and healthcare quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Strong analytical, communication, and relationship management skills with the ability to effectively partner with physicians, executive leadership, and cross-functional hospital departments to drive organizational goals.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Nursing, or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in physician services, medical group administration, or hospital-based physician operations within a complex healthcare system.
- Proven track record of leading and developing multidisciplinary teams and managing physician practices or integrated clinical operations in a hospital environment.
- Extensive experience in regulatory compliance, accreditation standards (including Joint Commission), and healthcare quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Exceptional analytical, communication, and relationship management skills with a proven ability to partner with physicians, executive leadership, and cross-functional hospital departments to drive organizational goals.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
