Physician Scientist Faculty Position in Radiation Oncology

The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) and the University of Washington (UW) are jointly recruiting a full-time faculty member in the Radiation Oncology division of Fred Hutch and the Department of Radiation Oncology at UW. The candidate will be appointed as an Assistant or Associate Professor without tenure due to funding (WOT).

About the role

• Primary appointment in an appropriate Fred Hutch scientific division (e.g., Human Biology, Basic Sciences, Translational Sciences and Therapeutics, Public Health Sciences)
• Joint appointment in the Fred Hutch Radiation Oncology division
• Academic appointment in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Washington at a level commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank
• Focus on translational research with significant support and protected time for laboratory work
• Teaching responsibilities may include oversight of residents during outpatient rotations, participation in the resident didactic curriculum, and delivery of informal teaching sessions and formal lectures to providers and the general medical community
• Experience in complex radiation treatment planning and delivery (VMAT, stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT)/stereotactic radiosurgery, IGRT, proton therapy etc.) is desired
• Primary activities on-site at Fred Hutch

Responsibilities

• Conduct translational research in a relevant field of radiation oncology
• Collaborate with researchers and clinicians to advance knowledge and improve patient outcomes
• Engage in teaching and mentoring of residents and fellows
• Participate in clinical care and patient management

Requirements

• Board certified or board eligible Radiation Oncologist
• Completed residency in an ACGME accredited program
• Track record of successful publication and funding in a field relevant to radiation oncology
• Experience in complex radiation treatment planning and delivery (VMAT, SBRT, IGRT, proton therapy etc.)

Qualifications

• Medical degree (MD/PhD welcomed), or foreign equivalent
• Eligible for medical licensure in the state of Washington
• Strong mentorship and training philosophy

Pay

• Annual base salary range for this position is from $465,091 to $501,368 for faculty hired at the Assistant Professor rank and from $522,428 to $560,043 for faculty hired at the Associate Professor rank
• Pay for faculty positions is based on a variety of factors, including degree, specialty, clinical practice and experience

Schedule

• Faculty are expected to perform their primary activities on-site at Fred Hutch
