Summary
The Miami VA Healthcare System and the Diagnostic Imaging Service seeks an experienced and dynamic Physician (Diagnostic Radiology) Mammography. Ideal candidates are those committed to enhancing quality care standards and contributing to the growth of a VA academic hospital program.
Qualifications
- United States Citizenship: Required
- Full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. state or territory
- Completed residency training in a core specialty approved by the VA Secretary for the year in which the training was completed
- Board Certification or board eligibility in Mammography preferred
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
Duties
- Interpreting all breast imaging exams including relevant exam comparison and correlation with clinical information in electronic health record
- Generating reports containing pertinent findings and measurements, a description of normal and abnormal structures, discussion of differential diagnoses, recommendations, and impressions
- Screening and diagnostic mammography, breast ultrasound, breast MRI, and image-guided biopsies
- Consulting with patients about results and recommending further testing
- Interpreting and analyzing medical images to diagnose illnesses and injuries
- Consulting with referring physicians to determine appropriate imaging studies
- Administering contrast agents and medications used in imaging procedures
- Monitoring patients during procedures to ensure safety and comfort
- Defining modality-specific protocols
- Consulting with ordering providers
- Reviewing orders and defining imaging protocols
- Supervising medical students or physician residents (including fellows)
Work Schedule
Full-Time - 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (Work schedules are determined and approved by the supervisor. Incumbents may be required to work various shifts on a permanent or temporary basis based on facility/patient care needs).
