Physician (Radiology-Diagnostic) - Mammography

Qualifications

• United States Citizenship: Required
• Full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. state or territory
• Completed residency training in a core specialty approved by the VA Secretary for the year in which the training was completed
• Board Certification or board eligibility in Mammography preferred
• Proficiency in spoken and written English

Duties

• Interpreting all breast imaging exams including relevant exam comparison and correlation with clinical information in electronic health record
• Generating reports containing pertinent findings and measurements, a description of normal and abnormal structures, discussion of differential diagnoses, recommendations, and impressions
• Screening and diagnostic mammography, breast ultrasound, breast MRI, and image-guided biopsies
• Consulting with patients about results and recommending further testing
• Interpreting and analyzing medical images to diagnose illnesses and injuries
• Consulting with referring physicians to determine appropriate imaging studies
• Administering contrast agents and medications used in imaging procedures
• Monitoring patients during procedures to ensure safety and comfort
• Defining modality-specific protocols
• Consulting with ordering providers
• Reviewing orders and defining imaging protocols
• Supervising medical students or physician residents (including fellows)

Work Schedule

Full-Time - 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (Work schedules are determined and approved by the supervisor. Incumbents may be required to work various shifts on a permanent or temporary basis based on facility/patient care needs).
