About the role
The psychiatrist will perform evaluations, diagnosis(es), treatments, and preventions of mental health disorders.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive examinations and assessments, determining diagnosis(es), and completing medical work-ups.
- Develop and implement treatment plans, referring to other specialties or appropriate community resources.
- Provide appropriate clinical documentation of patient care in the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) in a timely manner.
- Ensure accreditation requirements are met for all applicable survey and inspection processes to include, but are not limited to compliance with JCHACO, CARF, and OIG.
- Follow all VA guidelines regarding infection control and safety.
- Adhere to all quality performance measures.
- Provide examinations/reviews as assigned to support Mental Health services.
- Collaborate with approved fee-based community Mental Health inpatient programs to assist/coordinate discharge planning, medication and follow-up appointments, as well as, coordinating with ambulatory care services, as appropriate.
- May participate in supervision of residents and medical students assigned to Outpatient Psychiatry and/or Emergency Department.
Requirements
An applicant list will be sent to the service line every two weeks, the first one starting May 28, 2026.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements (if applicable) listed in the job announcement.
Education
Graduate of a school of medicine accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) for the year in which the degree was granted.
