About the role

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Functions as the Physician Team leader of their Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT), Primary Care Services, Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) setting at (MTVAHCS).
  • May perform additional duties (temporary or permanent) as a float provider [Face-to-Face (F2F), Telephone, or VA Video Connect (VVC)] as those duties are assigned.
  • Provides medical care in an outpatient setting following PACT principles. Routine provision of medical care using F2F, VVC, and/or Telephone appointments.
  • Provides care to outreach clinics as needed when performing duties as a float provider (F2F or VVC) for remote patients.
  • Affirms that Veterans receive compassionate, efficient and safe patient care in their respective care line.
  • Affirms that clinical care provided meets all timelines and required documentation as required by VA. Review alerts daily and have no more than 200 alerts at any given time. Encounter notes must be completed within 72 hours. Encounter errors must be corrected within 7 days.
  • Participates in multi-disciplinary team meetings to achieve a patient centered, holistic approach for clinical care and needs of the Veteran. This includes daily and weekly huddles with the Physician's respective PACT.
  • Leads by example. Attend either by Microsoft Teams or in person all Primary Care statewide meetings and participate in clinical and teaching activities at MTVAHCS Primary Care statewide meetings.
  • Complies with all VA directives and policies related to space management to achieve optimal resource utilization (space, professional and administrative) to maximize clinic utilization within the PACT model.
  • Improves quality of care by achieving:
    • Excellence in meeting national and Veterans Integrated Services Network (VISN) 19 patient safety goals.
    • Manage PACT patients' medical comorbidities with the goal to optimize PACT quality improvement efforts and obtain excellence of Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) metrics.

Qualifications

  • To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements (if applicable) listed in the job announcement.
  • Currently employed physician(s) in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation.
  • Basic Requirements:
    • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
    • Medical Degree: Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
    • License: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
    • Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
