HealthcareFull-time

Our team manages a delivery service in a community setting as part of a large health system with access to a Children’s center and Level 3 and 4 NICU for transfers when a higher level of care is needed.

About the role

We attend deliveries and emergency center consults for pediatric patients, including term deliveries and premature or unstable infants requiring stabilization and transfer to off-campus NICUs. In-house responsibilities include managing well newborns, newborns in the special care nursery (handling hypoglycemia, mild respiratory distress/hypoxia, hyperbilirubinemia requiring phototherapy, and infection rule-outs), and patient consultations in our busy emergency center. Typical pediatric ED consultations that may require transfer to our Children’s Center include asthma exacerbation, bronchiolitis, pneumonia, cellulitis/abscess, jaundice, dehydration, and fever/rule-out infection in infants.

The group is involved in quality improvement, clinical protocol creation, professional development, and scholarly activities. The physician will work with family medicine residents and medical students in a teaching role, rotating with other pediatric hospitalists to provide 24/7 in-house coverage.
