About the role
The role involves plans and coordinates outreach efforts to the referral base for the Clinical Enterprise. The position also includes liaising with the Clinical Enterprise's specialty physicians, services, facilities, and centers.
Responsibilities
- Liaison is responsible for the outreach and promotion of the services provided by WVU Medicine, contend with referral issues, and maintaining high visibility within the leadership of the clinical enterprise.
- Coordinates outreach based on the marketing calendar. This outreach is executed by the liaison on behalf of the specialty physicians, services, facilities, and centers that comprise the Clinical Enterprise at WVU Medicine.
- Executes and manages recurring site visits to the referral base for the purpose of facilitating relationships between referring physicians (and their staff) and the specialty services at the clinical enterprise.
- Facilitates visits by WVU Medicine providers to referring specialists as appropriate.
- Manages and executes outreach in the assigned territory.
- Offers updates to the referral base about programs, services, providers, and facilities within the Clinical Enterprise.
- Facilitates referrals through the development of relationships between primary care providers and specialists.
- Provides answers to questions or concerns about services and patient referrals.
- Maintains accurate call logs, and subsequent details, resulting from site visits.
- Provides formal and informal updates to hospital and practice plan leadership of referral base issues.
- Strives to develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the referral base; including issues affecting the community.
- Develops and nurtures relationships with internal faculty, and subsequent ancillary staff, organizational and clinical leadership of WVU Medicine.
- Represents the Clinical Enterprise of WVU Medicine at external meetings as assigned.
- Maintains a high profile with Departmental Chairs, Administrators, and Directors for the purpose of learning about new services to be promoted, which support the Marketing Calendar.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing and/or healthcare administration OR High School Diploma or Equivalent AND Four (4) years’ experience in sales or marketing.
- Valid Driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in business, marketing, and/or healthcare administration is preferred.
- Ten (10) years’ experience in sales or marketing position, preferably in the healthcare industry.
Skills and Abilities
- Exceptional communications skills: Both verbal and written skills are needed to be effective in presenting the message and getting feedback—from one-to-one conversations to group presentations.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented: Ability to utilize or adopt a customer relationship portal to help track and analyze voluminous data points, follow-up activities and events.
- Motivation, a self-starter: Much of the work is independent of a traditional office environment. Motivated individuals challenge themselves to understand what’s expected, why it’s important, and to get the job done, largely on their own.
- Knowledgeable of all scheduling/authorization processes.
- Requires a high level of attention to detail and fact reporting.
- Highly polished foresight is crucial to achieve success in the position due to the amount of pressures resulting from internal faculty/administration’s interest in capturing the market share of the referral base.
- Must have the ability to review and analyze referral reports in order to plan and effectively execute, responsive outreach.
- It is imperative that the position manages the analyses regarding provider satisfaction via verbal and written communications.
