Physician - Otolaryngology (ENT)

About the role

The Division of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the VA Boston Healthcare System (VABHCS) is seeking a full-time academic Head and Neck Surgeon/Otolaryngologist with specialty training in head and neck surgical oncology and facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, including microvascular free tissue transfer. Expertise in DaVinci robotic transoral surgery of the pharynx is required. Experience in facial trauma repair and post-Mohs reconstruction is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients across Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
• Perform complex head and neck oncologic, reconstructive, and microvascular procedures, including robotic transoral surgery.
• Provide clinical care in rhinology, laryngology, and otology, and take part in call coverage.
• Participate in teaching, supervision, and academic activities including research and publication.
• Work collaboratively within interdisciplinary Veteran-centered care teams.

Requirements

The position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.

Qualifications

• United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
• Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
• Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
• Board certification in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
• Experience in facial trauma repair and reconstruction after dermatologic surgery preferred.
• Credentials suitable for appointments at Boston University School of Medicine or Harvard Medical School.
• Fellowship training in head and neck surgical oncology and facial plastics/microvascular reconstruction.
• Strong academic record with evidence of teaching, research, and publications.
• Expertise in microvascular reconstruction and robotic transoral surgery.
