Physician - Orthopedic Surgery

About the role

The Department of Surgery/Orthopedics at the VA Boston Healthcare System (VABHCS), affiliated with Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH)/Harvard Medical School (HMS) and Boston University (BU), is seeking a full-time Orthopedic Surgeon.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive orthopedic surgical care with emphasis on joint arthroplasty.
• Perform operative and non-operative management including evaluation, surgery, and follow-up.
• Participate in education of residents and fellows.
• Contribute to interdisciplinary teamwork and quality improvement efforts.
• Engage in academic activity including teaching and scholarly work.

Requirements

Candidates must have completed accredited training in joint arthroplasty; additional training in shoulder and upper extremity surgery is advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate strong clinical and academic performance and an interest in resident and fellow education.

Qualifications

• United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
• Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
• Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• American Board Certification in Orthopedic Surgery.
