About the role

The VA Sioux Falls Healthcare System is recruiting for a part-time Orthopedic Surgeon. This role functions as the General Surgeon/Physician aligned with the Surgery/Specialty Care Service in inpatient and outpatient settings at the Sioux Falls VA Medical Center.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat all of the common orthopedic surgical conditions, including surgical and non-surgical treatment of diseases and injuries to the musculoskeletal system.
  • Participate in call schedule after hours, and possess the ability to respond promptly in emergent situations.
  • See patients in consultation in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Provide care of the Veterans' medical needs by performing examinations, surgical consultations, and developing treatment and follow-up plans.
  • Provide ongoing patient and family education throughout the course of treatment.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures regarding the completion of all required orders, operation/procedure notes/reports, discharge summaries, progress notes, clinical reminders, all other required medical documentation, and performance measures in a timely fashion.
  • Mentor, train and provide supervision for residents and mid-levels in all aspects of their duties as required.

Requirements

This position requires a current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the United States. Applicants must meet the basic requirements as outlined in the job announcement.
