Key Essential Functions And Accountabilities Of The Job
- Administer general and local anesthetics.
- Administer anesthetics or sedatives to control pain.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals and especially with Resident Program Director to plan or provide treatment.
- Evaluate the position of the wisdom teeth to determine whether problems exist currently or might occur in the future.
- Analyze patient data to determine patient needs or treatment goals.
- Perform surgery to prepare the mouth for dental implants, and to aid in the regeneration of deficient bone and gum tissues.
- Remove impacted, damaged, and non-restorable teeth.
- Treat infections of the oral cavity, salivary glands, jaws, and neck.
- Treat acute illnesses, infections, or injuries.
- Remove tumors and other abnormal growths of the oral and facial regions, using surgical instruments.
Education, Certifications, and Licenses Required
- DDS or DMD degree from an accredited University.
- Active License in the State of Alaska or another US State. Alaska license preferred.
- Board Certified OMFS.
- BLS, ACSL, PALS required.
Experience Required
- 5 years’ working experience is preferred.
Knowledge
- Working knowledge of proper infection control techniques.
- Understanding of the principles of dental disease and appropriate treatment therapies.
Skills
- In Oral and written communication skills.
- Hand dexterity skills.
- Diagnostics and skills.
Ability
- To make accurate clinical judgment.
- To be physically able to sit over patient for hours at a time.
- To teach others in a classroom and clinical environment.
