Essential Job Responsibilities/Expectations

• Affords assistance to the physician in assessing patient needs.
• Carries out direct patient care tasks, including triage, assessment, procedures, treatments, patient education, discharge instructions, and follow-up.
• Formulates the initial database by gathering pertinent information from the patient and family, conducting observations, and evaluating objectively.
• Documents all relevant information in the patient’s medical record.
• Executes specialized tests such as audiometry, electrocardiography, inhalation treatments, and certain laboratory procedures as required.
• Prepares medications and administers injections as directed by the physician.
• Assists with treatments and procedures as needed.
• Provides patient education tailored to the situation.
• Schedules testing and referral appointments as instructed by the physician.
• Communicates with patients via phone to address their concerns or refer them to the physician.
• Follows up with patients as necessary.
• Cleans and organizes examination rooms in accordance with OSHA standards.
• Maintains equipment and reports malfunctions to the office manager or appropriate personnel.
• Monitors and restocks medical supplies, ensuring that expiration dates are checked and outdated medications are disposed of.
• Orders medical supplies and collaborates with pharmaceutical representatives.
• Stays updated on all equipment needed for duties.
• Contributes to a supportive learning environment by encouraging colleagues’ educational pursuits.
• Participates in quality assurance reviews of patient care by performing chart audits and collecting prescribed data.
• Engages in departmental quality improvement projects.
• Promotes the practice mission and philosophy.
• Projects a positive image of the practice.
• Assumes responsibilities of other department personnel as required by workload.

Qualifications/Training

• Required computer skills.
• Current South Carolina (or compact state) license as an LPN (SCLLR) in good standing.
• Basic Life Saving (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
