Schedule

Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:30 PM

Pay

Pay range: $19.80 – $29.70 per hour

Responsibilities

  • Assess urgency of tests and prioritize task order accordingly.
  • Prepare specimens for testing; verify patient identification on samples and test requisitions; apply specimen-rejection rules and arrange recollection.
  • Use and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments; document quality controls, perform minor troubleshooting, and keep work area clean.
  • Prepare reagents required for test performance.
  • Calculate, report, and record test results; analyze for critical values and report immediately.
  • Oversee and participate in Quality Assessment activities and document problem recognition and resolution.
  • Perform waived and moderate-complexity (e.g., complete blood counts) clinical laboratory procedures with minimal to moderate supervision.
  • Collect laboratory samples by venipuncture and/or fingerstick; process and prepare samples for transport to reference laboratory.
  • Review test results and immediately notify providers or nursing staff of any issues or concerns.
  • Maintain familiarity with CLIA and OSHA regulations and comply with them.
  • Perform and document quality-assessment activities; troubleshoot equipment as instructed and request on-site service when needed.
  • Identify and document problems and take corrective action.
  • Train others on proper performance of routine procedures.

Physical Requirements

  • Work in an environment with biohazardous (infectious) materials, chemical, fire, and mechanical hazards.
  • Full range of body motion, including manual and finger dexterity and eye–hand coordination.
  • Frequent walking, sitting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Lift and carry items up to 25 pounds.
  • Visual acuity and normal color perception required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience performing moderately complex laboratory testing.
  • Clinical training in phlebotomy, medical office assisting, nursing, or radiology preferred.
