About the role

Essentia Health is seeking a Board‑Certified/Board‑Eligible Nephrologist to join an established, collaborative nephrology team in Duluth, Minnesota. This full‑scope nephrology opportunity is within a large tertiary‑care system serving a regional population of approximately 460,000. The position includes inpatient practice at SMDC Medical Center and St. Mary’s Medical Center (a combined 500‑bed tertiary‑care hospital complex), outpatient clinic work, and medical directorship opportunities associated with outpatient dialysis units. The team uses EPIC EMR in both clinic and hospital settings and is supported by RNs, Clinical Nurse Specialists, and Nurse Practitioners.

• Acute dialysis services
• ICU nephrology
• Apheresis
• Plasmapheresis
• Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy
• Home hemodialysis
• CAPD and CCPD
• Outreach consultative services at 3 Twin Ports clinics and 6 regional clinic locations

Requirements

• MD or DO degree
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Nephrology
• Eligible for medical licensure in Minnesota and/or Wisconsin

Pay

Starting compensation is $450,000, with additional earning potential through bonuses, quality incentives, and/or production‑based compensation.

Schedule

• 1:6 call schedule with supplemental casual/locum coverage as needed
