Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Certified Medical Coder to join our team!
Duties And Responsibilities
- Ensure that records are coded.
- Reviews charts thoroughly to ascertain all diagnoses/procedures.
- Contact responsible physician in professional manner if diagnosis is not available on chart.
- Coder's diagnoses and procedure on clinical summary agree with physician’s preference 100% of the time.
- Refers chart to director, if there is a question regarding the diagnosis code.
- Utilizes computerized coding/abstracting equipment.
- Codes all diagnoses/procedures in accordance to ICD-10 coding guidelines.
Qualifications
- Education/Certification: High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Knowledge of diagnoses/procedures in accordance with ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines for acute care facilities.
- Must be RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA or CPC certified.
- Experience: One year or more related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Equipment/Technology: Ability to use abstracting and coding software, computer, fax machine.
- Language/Communication: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. The ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
