About the role
Join our dynamic healthcare team at St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma, WA. We specialize in diagnosing and treating adult patients, making a significant impact on their lives and families.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive, longitudinal primary care to adult patients (18+), including preventative wellness, acute illness management, and chronic disease management
- Perform routine physical exams, annual check-ups, and screenings, providing education on disease prevention and healthy lifestyle modifications
- Order appropriate diagnostic tests (laboratory, imaging, EEGs) and interpret results to formulate evidence-based treatment plans
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team, including specialists, nurse care coordinators, and social workers to ensure seamless, high-quality patient care
- Offer guidance, counseling, and education on wellness, disease management, and medication adherence to patients and their families
- Maintain accurate, timely, and detailed medical records, utilizing EPIC appropriately
- Provide and document direct treatment for patients, including ordering medications, referrals, and following up on specialist consultations
- Participate in primary care division activities, including peer review programs, quality metric improvement, and policy development
Requirements
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine
- Active, unrestricted license in the state of Washington
- Ability to obtain a DEA with full prescriptive authority needed for the specific practice
- Strong clinical diagnostic skills in an ambulatory setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
- Commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate care to all ages of patients
Qualifications
- Required: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution
- Required: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine
- Required: Active, unrestricted license in the state of Washington
- Required: Ability to obtain a DEA with full prescriptive authority needed for the specific practice
- Required: Strong clinical diagnostic skills in an ambulatory setting

- Preferred: At least one year of Internal Medicine Primary Care experience
