Department: The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek a Cutaneous Oncologist to join the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Medical Oncology. Academic rank and track are determined by academic record and experience.

About the Role

Physician specializing in Melanoma to serve as a member of the Division of Medical Oncology within the Department of Internal Medicine. Responsibilities include:

• Directing and providing direct and indirect patient care services in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Conducting ambulatory clinics.
• Interviewing, obtaining, and reviewing medical history of patients.
• Performing physical examinations to assess medical or surgical needs.
• Performing relevant oncology procedures.
• Ordering special procedures, diagnostic testing, and other ancillary services.
• Responding to consultation requests.
• Determining, prescribing, and implementing treatment plans and/or medications required.
• Documenting all services and instructions provided in the medical record.
• Educating patients and promoting wellness, prevention, and early detection by providing materials, resources, and services to patients and their families.
• Directing and participating in quality assessment and improvement activities.
• Serving as a preceptor and providing bedside training of residents, fellows, medical students, undergraduate & graduate students, nursing staff, and other allied medical professionals in the specialty of oncology.
• Ensuring continuing medical education requirements are met.
• Participating in department, college, medical center, and university committees and other service activities.

Requirements

• Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
• Completion of accredited Oncology/Hematology Fellowship.
• Board Certified in Internal Medicine and board eligible or certified in Medical Oncology.
• Able to meet medical licensure requirements in Ohio.
• Active certification from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) required.

Faculty Tracks

• Clinical Faculty: Titles include assistant professor-clinical, associate professor-clinical, and professor-clinical. These faculty hold an MD, PhD, or other terminal degree. They are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of three to five years. Their focus is on delivering exemplary clinical care, which may include teaching and/or research.
• Tenure-Track Faculty: Titles include assistant professor, associate professor, or professor. These faculty are eligible for tenure and hold a PhD, MD, or other terminal degree. Their primary focus is on research, service, and teaching. Tenure-track faculty with MD or MD/PhD degrees may also be involved in clinical care.
• Research Faculty: Titles include research assistant professor, research associate professor, or research professor. These faculty hold a PhD or other terminal degree. They are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of one to five years, with a principal focus on research.
